Chapter Eight

Moving in was the easy part but the hard part has only just begun. Living with my beloved even though he has no knowledge of what we are to each other is going to be tough, but I’ll do it because I have hope that I can convince him of it eventually. Knowing that the issue isn’t me but his sense of smell makes it a little easier because all I have to do is taste his blood to be sure and after that he’ll be able to sense the beginnings of the bond tasting him will cause.

All I have to do is be patient but not too patient. We have to get to know each other a little before I try to let him know that we’re mates. If I try to do it now, he might not believe me, and that could ruin any chance I have at claiming him. So for now, I’ll just bide my time until the time is right and then I’ll tell him. I just hope that waiting won’t hurt us in the long run. Especially, when he finds out that I’ve known since day one. That conversation could really go either way. Then there’s the issue of my eventual bloodlust if I wait too long to tell him.

Gods, why does Fate have to make things so complicated? It would be so much easier if mates didn’t have to deal with so much shit but I guess it has to be this way. As my mother always says, easier isn’t always better. If you take the easy way out nothing changes, you learn nothing, and you’ll end up an egotistical, arrogant asshole that has nothing better to do except be alone because no one wants to be around you and your bullshit.

Once everything starts coming easy to you and everything is basically handed to you, your personality goes downhill fast. I don’t think Fate wants that type of situation when it comes to mates so, nothing is easy. Mates have to work for their relationship but that’s what makes the relationship so great in the long run. I have my work cut out for me with mine obviously, but in the end it’ll be worth it. I’m glad that the van bit the dust honestly. Without it we’d still be on the road and I never would’ve decided to live here in Asphalt Bay or found my beloved. It’s crazy how fate can control chain reactions like that.

One thing I do know is that I really lucked out in the mate department. I mean damn, not only is my wolf good looking but he can cook too. The humans weren’t lying when they said the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach. Yeah, I can totally get behind that. Food is one thing I can’t pass up. The guys say I’m a bottomless pit but what can I say? I enjoy food…a lot. If it tastes good, I’ll devour that shit no questions asked.
